Length: 5.1mls | Av. time: 2.10hrs
Start: Errwood Hall car park
This 5-mile circuit of Errwood Reservoir is one of my favourite walks in the Goyt Valley. It can get a bit muddy around point 15 on the map, and the bracken can get thick near the old packhorse bridge from mid-July. But the rewards are well worth the effort, with some wonderful views across this unique Peak District landscape.
The walk description starts from Errwood Hall car park, but if this is full, there’s usually plenty of space at the larger Street car park further north, just opposite the road between the two reservoirs.
The Riverside section between 3 and 5 is particularly picturesque, and a good spot for picnics. Another good place to rest awhile is at 14 where there are a couple of benches overlooking the reservoir.
A detailed, step-by-step description and map of this walk are available to download for just £1.85. A walking app GPX file is also available at £1.50. Save on both for just £2.95. All proceeds help cover the hosting costs of this website.
