bove: Errwood Reservoir comes into view from point 11 on the map.

Length: 5.1mls | Av. time: 2.10hrs
Start: Errwood Hall car park

This 5-mile circuit of Errwood Reservoir is one of my favourite walks in the Goyt Valley. The description starts from Errwood Hall car park, but you could also park at The Street car park which has more spaces.

The route can get muddy around point 15, and the bracken can get dense near the packhorse bridge from mid-July. But the rewards are well worth the effort, with some wonderful views across this unique Peak District landscape.

There are three good spots for a picnic; the ancient packhorse bridge, the riverside section between 3 and 5, and a couple of benches overlooking the reservoir at 14.
